Frontier man, Wentworth Kersey, is a bootgazing vaquero from the plains of Colorado. Mister Kersey consists of Joe Kersey Sampson (A Dog Paloma) and Jeffrey Wentworth Stevens (George&Caplin) who met while playing "A Soundtrack for Suicide" at the Youth Hipster Halfway House during a lost era of western greatness. Wentworth Kersey was born out of the need to explore new palettes of sound within the existing structures of Americana. The result feels like a “sci-fi folk experiment” with Joe Kersey Sampson providing his folk compositions and Jeffrey Wentworth Stevens becoming a backup band with his sonic landscapes. Most recently Wentworth Kersey formed a collective based around their “Bootgazing Vaquero Manifesto”, and is currently in works on a full length soundtrack with the likes of fellow compañeros Sandusky and George&Caplin. Wentworth Kersey were honored by ART ROCKER as #48 out of the top 100 albums of 2009., and their second EP was also included on “best of the year” lists presented by SLOWCOUSTIC, THE DENVER
POST, YOU CRAZY DREAMERS, CONNEXION BIZARRE and WESTWORD magazine.

“(O), the second of three EPs promised from Denver’s Wentworth Kersey, finds the duo upping the atmospheric ante while maintaining a strong songwriting perspective. Passing comparisons to Yankee Hotel Foxtrot-era Wilco remain apt, but the tracks here feel even more ethereal and ghostly than its predecessor. … armed with a fully formed aesthetic and an ear for mixing texture and melody in gorgeous proportions…8 out of 10” --POP MATTERS.com

“If you haven’t yet sampled their lush, languid, sound scapey sun soaked country genius, here’s the perfect opportunity.”
"stunning, beautiful…the songs are simply crafted but swathed in a rich psychey soundscape. It’s very cleverly done - velvety and honest at the same time.” --ARTROCKER.com

“The EP is a tour in, through and to the fringe of Americana – not a place many are brave enough to travel. Don’t wait for the Avant Garde Americana to become a genre, immerse in it right now.”
--SLOWCOUSTIC

"On WK’s second self-titled EP, Joe Sampson and Jeffrey Wentworth Stevens seamlessly meld haunting folk songs to minimal yet soaring samples and synthesizers. The result is a lush, lonesome vibe that sneaks up and bites you on the ass with its epic-ness."
--THE ONION (av section)

"...while it still can be described within the range of new Americana, but then it still sounds different to any other album I have heard before that I would describe as being associated with this style. A very strong debut. Highly recommended." --106.7 RADIO CENTRAL BELGIUM

"Denver's Wentworth Kersey is like Little House on the Prairie on ludes meets 2001 (A Space Odyssey}." --CAUSE=TIME blog

"The music is something that would make a great soundtrack for a Quentin Tarantino movie. While I would say the sound is basically “folk” it is so much more - it has so many textures, auras of rolling Appalachian valleys and a modern day Mexi-Cali conquistadors - all with a slight bit of ambient flowing through it all. Highly recommended."
